Padstow – North Cornwall

Not for Navigation

Padstow – Cornwall

Position:

N50 34 6

W004 55 75

This was a late choice for an anchorage but with a strong Eastery wind the recommendations for ‘The Mouls’ and the surrounding area where not viable.

And this turned out to be a surprisingly beautiful place to drop the pick.

Hiding as best we could in the lee of the main hill, we anchored in relatively deep water (10m) over rich sand and mud.  We stayed well away from the famed ‘Doom Bar’ and spent a soud nigh swinging out of the way of the surf and larger gusts.

Benefits:

No charge

Great views and a nearly all-around protection (except from the West)

Easy access to Padstow

Easy access to the beach

Negatives:

A feeling of being overlooked by beach walkers, surfers and those with a beach front view.
