Logbook – Ferragudo to Albufeira 18 Jun 20
After Breakfast we secured for sea by 9:30 and lifted the hook an hour later. Just as we started to depart, the Maritime Police arrived. They checked passports, last port and ship documents before allowing us to head off. We then joined Lysander and Quintessence for 1100 on our way to Albufeira. The plan was to travel in loose company to Albufeira and then head to Culatra the day after.
A good Southerly breeze let us cruise at 5 knots until just after lunch when the wind dropped. We persevered until after lunch then had to turn the engine on.
No matter as we didn’t have to rush and we arrived at Albufeira by 1445.
The anchorage in in the shelter of some cliffs tot he North and a breakwater to the West which was a nice little anchorage with some swell. Albufeira is well stocked with bars, restaurants and supermarkets and you can drop in to the marine on your dinghy if required.
There are several tourist boats that operate from Albufeira including the OceanEye that is a high speed boat with an above and a below water viewing system. Great for dolphin chasing.
The anchorage has room for about 6-8 yachts and is well sheltered but can suffer from swell from the West.
Here you can see our friends Edge and Bex in Lysander, a beautiful Vander Stadt
Still a good place to stop and stage for hitting Culatra when the tide was favourable.
