Logbook – Roquetas – Almeria – 1 Aug 24

Today is a short run to Almeria. There isn’t a way to book in advance but they are very accommodating and always seem to find a place.

So after a couple of hours of gentle motoring, we managed to find a ‘stern to’ med mooring near the entrance. It was a tight squeeze between 2 large powerboats, but they just act like barriers in a bowling alley, keeping us aligned.

Once tied up we had a short and very efficient logging in at the capitaneria. The team are well prepared and speak English. My Spanish is still limited to ‘2 beers and ‘my friend will pay!’…I can also do ‘Get your hands up it’s a robbery’ but I’m not sure where or why i learned that little phrase!

Almeria is a great stop, with a fantastic Islamic castle renovation (free) and a guitar museum, a must for me!

The beach is a nice place to stroll (not as good as Estepona) and there are several restaurants and bars to watch the world walk by. Our 3 night stay was very enjoyable and we needed the down time.

How the Italian Navy train sailing!

Don’t mention Taranto!!
