Logbook – Mazagon – Rota 12 Jul 24
With a Northerly wind behind us and a Westerly forecast we looked forward to a good day of sailing. We caught the falling tide just before 8 and soon had the head sail up with 4.5 knots. Sailing down this coast is pleasant but uninspiring. Chipiona is a good safe bolt hole with a good small marina and some good anchorages up the inlet.
The wind shifted slightly after lunch and we had to make a couple of gybes to make the entrance to the Bay of Cadiz. From a distance Rota looked appealling with several other yachts anchored, but these turned out to be day visitors. Some we had a rolly safe anchorage to ourselves.
Overnight the wind was twice what was forecast getting us up to check things out. Good practise for the season and a chastener to remember that apps are just a guess.
