Logbook – Rota – Cadiz – Barbate 13-14 Jul 24
The rolly night left us tired and we expected a similar weather for the night so we motored across the bay to an anchorage near the bridge. This is a great spot if a little unattractive and noisy from the road traffic over the bridge. But we had the best nights sleep. If we hadn’t been pushing to avoid the Levante on the way to Gib we might have had a raucous night in that anchorage watching the Euros final between England and Spain.
In the end we elected to sail to Barbate and stage ready for a convenient weather window to get through the straits.
Barbate is a spacious and efficient marina although the radio wasn’t answered. We just arrived at the reception pontoon and a mariniero magically appeared.
Paperwork was fast and efficient (38 euro) and the marina fingers easily accessed.
We popped ashore for a drink and in search of a restaurant but only found a bar.
Dinner on board and then we found a form of streaming channel to watch the euro final.
Spain won and the town went berserk! The Spanish love a party!
