Logbook – Estapona – Marbella – 24 Jul 24
Light winds left us using the ‘Diesel Donkey’ to pull us towards Marbella. It was very light and calm and we were making our our headwind, which was perfect for shaking out sails, cleaning and resetting the reefing gear and then packing ready for the wind expected.
Andy drove as I shook another birds next out of a hidden nook. The river Guadiana is teaming with wildlife but some of it finds its way into the boat!
Marbella wasn’t idyllic as an anchorage and too busy for us to anchor peacefully, so we pushed on to a little anchorage with much a more attractive vista. Rio Real has a much calmer feel with a beach club and small pebbly beach. The anchorage was sandy with good holding although the wind was light.
Typically, the swell was variable and annoying but we did get some sleep in between the tides and in the calmer periods. Not a bad place to stay on route NW.
